Comments: On 2/19/2024 a pony mare presented with lethargy and ataxia. On 9/21/2024 test results confirmed she was positive for EHV-1 by PCR on both blood and nasal swab. She and the other 20 horses on the premises are quarantined and are being monitored for fever or other clinical signs. State animal health officials continue to monitor the situation and urge the equine community to employ good biosecurity practices when attending and returning home from equine events and sales.
