West Nile Virus

The Maryland Department of Agriculture confirmed two positive cases of West Nile Virus in Maryland. One horse in Anne Arundel County showed an onset of neurological clinical signs, responded to supportive treatment and has recovered. One horse in Carroll County showed an onset of severe neurological clinical signs on August 26th, 2018 and was euthanized; WNV was confirmed by Maryland Department of Health's Arbo Lab on August 30th, 2018. Both horses had not been vaccinated for WNV.
