Currently, the index case is the only one positive for EHV-1, EHM. Fourteen other premises with possibly exposed equine are still under quarantine with no clinical signs. Today, 2-17-16, the UGA Teaching Hospital, with my approval, released the 19 horses being held under the 14 day UGA quarantine. All 19 horses were asymptomatic for EHV clinical signs, had normal temperatures the entire quarantine period and tested negative by PCR for 3 consecutive days – day 15, 16 and 17. The horses will return to their individual homes and continue a 10 day self-quarantine. Additionally, there is a EHV-4 positive equine under a 28 day quarantine at the original premises.
