Notes: West Nile virus (WNV) has been confirmed in a two-year-old horse in Saskatchewan in the RM of Elcapo # 154. Vaccination status is unknown. This is the first case detected in SK in 2021. The horse presented with fever and neurologic deficits. Supportive treatment including dexamethasone was given. At four days post presentation, the animal has shown signs of improvement and appears on its way to recovery. For more information about WNV go to the factsheet.
