Alert ID: 223
June 10, 2016

A partial quarantine release has been granted for the affected premise in Cooke County, TX. All infected horses (7) on the premises were removed to an isolation area after the diagnosis. Since isolating the EHV-1 positive horses, all horses on the facility have tested negative on nasal swabs 14 days after the affected horses were removed from the barn. Due to no additional horses showing any clinical signs or elevated temperatures, all barns on the facility have been released and cleared for breeding activities except for the barn housing the 7 infected horses. That barn will remain under quarantine until all horses are negative on nasal swabs. The horses are recovering and doing well at this time and we continue to encourage everyone in the equine community to practice sound biosecurity.
