Notes: A horse at a boarding facility in Kent County has tested positive for Equine Influenza and the facility has been placed under a state quarantine. The horse was illegally imported into Rhode Island after purchase from a sale barn. The horse was febrile and had a large fluid swelling of the temporomandibular joint. A sample was submitted for a respiratory panel and equine influenza was diagnosed. The horse was referred to a referral hospital for treatment of the TMJ issue and was ultimately euthanized for that problem. Remaining horses at the farm are asymptomatic and a temp log has been started. For more information about Equine Influenza go to: Equine Influenza factsheet.;
