West Nile Virus

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture has reported a new case of WNV. The unvaccinated 5 year old Paint mare, located in Jefferson County, presented on September 10th with muscle fasciculations, rear weakness, and knuckling over of the left hind, and had a fever early on. The mare was sampled on September 15th, confirmed positive on September 23rd and is doing well at this time. This makes for 7 Equine WNV Cases in WI for 2016.
