Clinical Signs: This was a 12 year old unvaccinated Standardbred gelding in the region of Ottawa that was found down during evening feeding on September 14th. On exam that evening he had a severe left head tilt, was leaning left, and would fall over to the left side when unsupported. He was also ataxic and had a fever (~40.0C) and was euthanized (Sept 14). He was observed to be normal at feeding that morning. The serum sample was positive for EEE IgM. There was no history of travel.; Confirmation Date: 10/3/2023; Horse Status: Euthanized; Vaccination Status: Unvaccinated;
Comments: This is the 14th EEE case of the year in Ontario.;
