Clinical Signs: This was a 12 month old Canadian filly, with no record of vaccination, in the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville. On September 22 the owner observed the filly having trouble standing up and seizing. On examination that morning, the filly was in lateral recumbency, could not stand when prompted, appeared weak, had an elevated respiratory rate, and a fever (40C). She was euthanized by the vet at that time. She was observed to be normal by the owner the day prior (Sep 21). The serum sample was positive for EEE IgM. There was no history of travel. A foal and an adult horse died on the farm 1-2 weeks prior but were not tested for EEE.; Confirmation Date: 10/2/2023; Horse Status: Euthanized; Vaccination Status: Unvaccinated;
