Age: 12; Gender: Mare; Breed: Quarter Horse (QH); Onset of Clinical Signs: 1/29/2024; Clinical Signs: This mare had a fever and nasal discharge. She was tested on January 29 and the sample was positive for S. equi on PCR. She had attended an event on January 28. The owner was advised by their veterinarian to inform the event organizer so this information could be disseminated to the event participants.; Confirmation Date: 2/2/2024;

Comments: Under veterinary supervision, the facility owner has implemented voluntary animal movement restrictions and infection control procedures.;
