Comments: As of Oct. 3, Seven (7) out of the remaining nine (9) potentially exposed horses at Los Alamitos Racetrack were confirmed positive for EIA. A confirmed EIA positive equid must be euthanized or quarantined for life 200 yards away from any EIA negative equid as per USDA EIA program rules. Euthanasia was elected for these cases and witnessed on October 2nd and 3rd by CDFA veterinarians. The 3 remaining potentially exposed horses will remain under quarantine until their sixty (60) day retest samples are completed as per CDFA and USDA program requirements. Epidemiological tracing is ongoing with CDFA actively monitoring the situation. The original horse was euthanized Sept. 24.;
