Horse 1:
Age: 18; Gender: Mare; Breed: Appaloosa; Clinical Signs: This mare became febrile and was promptly isolated. She developed multiple abscesses on the head and had repeated fevers. Culture and PCR were positive for S. equi. No other horses on the farm are affected.;
