Age: 35; Gender: Gelding; Breed: Pony; Onset of Clinical Signs: 6/23/2025; Clinical Signs: This senior pony had other significant health issues and was being administered immune modulating medication when it developed a single submandibular abscess. Testing confirmed S. equi. The pony was euthanized due to its declining health. The remainder of the horses in the barn are vaccinated for S. equi and are being monitored by the attending veterinarians.; Horse Status: Euthanized; 

Comments: The facility owner, working with their veterinarian, has instituted voluntary animal movement restrictions and biosecurity protocols.
