Strangles

Bradford and Hillsborough Counties, FL

On February 9, one premise in each Bradford and Hillsborough County, Florida were placed under quarantine for strangles. The index case for one quarantine was recently purchased from a facility in Bastrop, LA which continues to distribute strangles infected equines throughout the country. The other index horse’s exposure is currently under investigation. This is the first case for both Bradford and Hillsborough County and cases 8 and 9 for Florida in 2017.
