Horse 1:
Age: 21; Gender: Gelding; Breed: Friesian; Usage: Pleasure Riding; Clinical Signs: Odd presentation. Horse is vaccinated against strangles (April 2025) and has a chronic unilateral nasal discharge since sustaining a head injury as a young horse. He was referred to an ophthalmologist for treatment of a descemetocoele and that veterinarian cultured the descemetocoele and recovered Strep equi equi. Subsequent nasopharyngeal wash yielded a positive PCR for strangles and this sample was typed and determined to be wild strain versus vaccine strain.; Confirmation Date: 9/19/2025; Horse Status: Quarantined; Vaccination Status: Vaccinated;
