Canadian Food Inspection Agency

On June 9, 2017 a positive EIA result was confirmed by the Canadian Food Inspection Ageny’s national reference laboratory for a horse that had been sampled by an accredited veterinarian on a Manitoba (MB) premises in the rural municipality of St. Clements. The mare was being moved to a breeding farm in Saskatchewan and although a biosecurity plan was in place at the receiving premises, the horse was transported before its final EIA results had been reported. There was contact with the horses at the receiving premises and they will be included in the CFIA’s investigation, in addition to those that were on the initial MB premises. Clinical signs have not been reported.
