Strangles

June 30, 2015-A new premise in Polk County that was reported for possible strangles. Currently two horses out of the approximately 80 horses on the premises are clinical. The symptoms started on June 15th but the premise was not reported until June 30th. Currently the facility is under quarantine. This is the second confirmed case in Polk County and the 18 incident for the state since the beginning of the year.
