A press release from the Minnesota Board of Animal Health reports a horse in Benton County tested positive for rabies on July 24^th. The horse began showing clinical signs on July 18^th which included recumbency (inability to stand), facial spasms, low-grade fever, and incoordination but was eating and drinking normally. The owner elected to euthanize the horse after it failed to respond to treatment. This is the first confirmed positive case of rabies in Minnesota for 2017.
