West Nile Virus

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection confirmed West Nile Virus in an unvaccinated 14-year-old Standardbred cross from Vernon County. The hose was examined on 8/21/17 and found with a low-grade fever, slightly uncoordinated, lethargic and had twitching around the muzzle with chewing motions though it was not eating at the time. The horse was treated and is recovering. No quarantine was issued.
