On December 22nd 2017, the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services confirmed Strangles in a horse in Marion County. The premises was placed under quarantine. The index case had clinical signs on December 17, 2017 and was confirmed positive by culture. All other horses (6) on the premise are free of clinical signs at this time. This is the 10th case of Strangles reported in Marion County and the 41st for the state of Florida in 2017.
