Equine Herpesvirus- Respiratory

The Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) reports a confirmed case of non-neuropathogenic Equine Herpesvirus-1 (EVH-1) by a nasal swab (PCR) from a horse in King County that was recently transported from Portland Meadows Racetrack, Oregon. The horse is not demonstrating clinical signs of illness at this time. WSDA has placed the facility under quarantine and is actively monitoring other horses at the facility that have been exposed to the infected index horse.
