Office of the Wyoming State Veterinarian

A correction has been made regarding the previous outbreak update on the the equine herpesvirus outbreak in Campbell County: the fourth positive horse originated from the second quarantines premise, not the first quarantined premis. Additionally, today (2/14/2018) Wyoming State Veterinarian confirmed a fifth horse with a fever at the Wright Agriculture Complex (the “third” premises) has tested negative on both nasal swab and whole blood for EHV-1 wild type.  This premise is an event facility with long term boarding.  The premises has been under quarantine since 2/7/2018 and all equine events have been canceled until further notice. Prior to the quarantine being placed, four horses were removed from the Wright Ag Complex facility and brought to a private ranch where 13 other horses were already located.  That premises and all 14 horses are under quarantine as well.
