Arizona Department of Agriculture

As of March 1, 2018 the Arizona Department of Agriculture has lifted the previously ordered quarantine of a barn at Turf Paradise Racetrack in response to the previously reported case of Equine Herpesvirus Myloencephalopathy by an infection of Equine Herpes Virus – 1 (EHV-1). Investigations were underway to identify any other horses that may have been exposed to EHV-1. The State Veterinarian and the Arizona Department of Gaming Division of Racing worked with officials at Turf Paradise to quarantine and monitor any other potentially exposed horses. Track management also required strict biosecurity measures be practiced by all horse-owners and other personnel during this quarantine period. No other EHV-1 cases were found.
