California Department of Food and Agriculture

The California Department of Food and Agriculture has confirmed three additional EHV-1 positive horses at the quarantined facility in Orange County. Two horses displaying fevers over the weekend were confirmed positive on April 23rd and moved to isolation. An additional horse which had originally tested negative for EHV-1 after developing a fever was sampled a second time, was confirmed positive on April 24th, and was also moved into isolation. This brings the total of confirmed EHV-1 febrile cases to five and one confirmed case of EHM. Enhanced biosecurity measures and twice daily temperature recording for all exposed horses in the quarantine barn continues. CDFA staff continues to be onsite monitoring the situation.
