Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development

On May 21, 2018, the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development released the quarantine of a standardbred gelding. The horse, which had been removed from Washtenaw County, had been isolated and under quarantine in Oakland County due to developing neurologic signs and subsequently testing positive for equine herpesvirus-1 (EHV-1). The horse has since recovered and has tested negative for EHV-1 via two consecutive polymerase chain reaction tests seven days apart. The quarantine in Washtenaw County was released on April 17, after 21 consecutive days without the presence of fevers or clinical signs.
