Eastern Equine Encephalitis

On August 13th and 14th, the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs confirmed two cases of Eastern Equine Encephalitis in the Regional Municipality of Niagara. A mare and her foal were euthanized after developing acute and progressive neurological signs (ataxia leading to recumbency). EEE was confirmed through post mortem testing. The mare had been incompletely vaccinated for EEE. These are the third and fourth cases of EEE in Ontario this year. http://www.omafra.gov.on.ca/english/livestock/horses/facts/nhd_surv2018.htm
