The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets confirmed the state’s first 2018 EEE case in a horse from West Monroe, NY (Oswego Co). The 2-year old gelding started to show signs on August 8, 2018. The gelding was found down in the woods, was blind with a high fever. The horse died the following day. Brain samples submitted along with concurrent signs of illness confirmed an active EEE infection.
