Equine Disease Communication Center longtime supporter Merck Animal Health has partnered with EquiTrace Ltd., creators of the EquiTrace® smartphone app, to streamline health record keeping for microchipped horses through rapid identification of temperature fluctuations. This provides trends over time which allows for early identification of infectious diseases. The EquiTrace app allows for the horse care team to update and access each horse’s GPS location and medical record in one location. EquiTrace can be used with individual horses or large facilities and is compatible with any microchip but must be coupled with a Merck Animal Health Bio-Thermo® microchip to utilize the temperature-sensing functionality. The app is available for iPhones and Androids.
