Comments: The suspected index case was purchased at auction and diagnosed with strangles. It was held in isolation before importing to RI where the clinical signs resolved and it was tested via PCR for strangles, but was negative. It was then imported and brought to a boarding facility where it was housed in a paddock with two other horses. One of the paddock mates has been confirmed positive and the other has mild nasal discharge but has not been tested.;
